Dental Implants

Dental Implants are a titanium fixture that can replace one tooth or multiple teeth. A dental Implant functions as a normal tooth (or teeth). The dental implant is a titanium fixture (or screw) that is surgically placed into the jaw bone. Over time this fixture integrates with the bone and becomes fixed. This fixture acts as a tooth root, which then a crown is constructed to be attached to this fixture, this is the part of the tooth that is visual in the mouth.

Dental Implant therapy may span over the course of 3-6 months depending on the complexity of the case, as it takes time for bone to integrate with the titanium fixture. (Your dentist will be able to advise you on the expected time frame and appointments to be expected).

When the Implant Therapy is complete the patient will require regular check-ups as implants cannot decay, however they can become loose, fractured or suffer from gum disease.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
